Cross & Sons uses powerful electric powered Rooter machines to bore through tough clogs. For industrial and/or commercial jobs we use DuraCable's The KING for opening clogged drains and clearing lines of roots. We use DuraCable's The BARON for residential jobs like roof vents, sinks, bath tubs, shower drains, and laundry drains.

Hydro-excavation

Hydro-excavation is also known as hydro-digging, hydro-trenching, vacuum evacuation, or soft digging. The destructive processes of this method combine pressurized water and a high flow of moving air to simultaneously excavate and evacuate native soils at a controlled rate. During the course of a typical hydro-excavation operation, the soil and water slurry is conveyed via an 8-inch tube to a truck-mounted debris tank. The control of the flow water stream permits a remarkable amount of accuracy in operations. Because only material necessary for repair or inspection needs to be removed, hydro-excavation may be a perfect fit—especially when compared with the large, less-than-accurate excavator or backhoe buckets traditionally used. This is a valuable tool as utility, gas, and phone companies are pushing more and more for the use of hydro-excavation. It means fewer repairs for them and often less major disasters.

Video Camera Line Inspection

A video camera allows for a visual inspection of underground sewer lines and other piping to determine the condition inside the pipe. A flexible rod with a specially designed, high-resolution video camera on its tip is inserted into the pipe for inspection. As the rod is pushed through the pipe, the waterproof camera records its progress and findings. Video images are transmitted to the camera operator and can be saved onto a videotape for a permanent record.

Video cameras may be used to identify damage and obstructions that inhibit proper flow or create occasional or repeated backups. The cameras also verify that obstructions have been removed and that the lines are clean following service. The condition of a line typically cannot be determined without a visual inspection using an in-line camera.
